PHIUS CERTIFIED SOLEBURY SCHOOL PASSIVE HOUSE DORMITORY

Constructing a Passive House dormitory for the prestigious Solebury School posed unique challenges and opportunities. Adhering to PHIUS’ Passive House standards demanded meticulous attention, prompting Quarry View to undergo specialized training. Sustainability and cost-effectiveness were paramount, driving them to optimize processes and materials. Innovative approaches included using Foam Glass Aggregate for insulation. Rigorous testing throughout construction ensured adherence to PHIUS standards. Despite tight deadlines, effective scheduling and collaboration ensured timely completion. The project exemplifies Quarry View’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability.

This dormitory is the first of its kind in the United States – a fully certified Passive House multi-unit residential building. Constructing a building up to Passive House standards results in a very energy efficient building. Learn more about passive buildings here.
